Trivia[edit | edit source]
- 17 of the 22 drivers on the grid made their debuts in Australia, as it's normally the first race of the season. Vettel, Grosjean, Rosberg, Hulkenberg and Ricciardo are the five exceptions; Vettel was drafted in as a replacement for Robert Kubica who crashed in the previous race at Montreal, the two Nicos made their debuts at Bahrain in 2006 and 2010, when it was the first race of the season. Grosjean and Ricciardo are the only two drivers to make their debuts on European soil, both mid-season replacements for Nelson Piquet Jr and Narain Karthikeyan respectively.
- Sutil is the only German to debut at Melbourne - there were none in 2012 as Sutil was on his year's break from F1.
- Webber is the only driver to debut in his home country, but this is to change as Webber retires at the end of the season.
