The World Helicopter Racing Championships is a racing series, the first ever to involve helicopters. The most successful pilot in the series is American Hank Bondhale, who won eight titles between 1993 and 2010.
The first season was in 1982, won by Raymond Reid.
Renko and Ruud Dotinga are the only father-and-son pair to win titles in the series, Renko won in 1985, 1987 and 1988, and Ruud won in 2008.
The only female to have raced in the series is Stephanie Simpson from the UK, who debuted in the series in 2010.
