Anthony "Tony" Tomelty (born September 1, 1985 in Enniskillen) is a Northern Irish-Japanese racing driver with an unusual childhood.

Personal life and career[edit | edit source]

Tony's father, Stephen "Steve-O" Tomelty, worked on an animated series called "Tony the Tea Towel" named after his son. The first episode aired on September 14, 1985, a few weeks after Tony was born. However, the series proved unsuccessful, and was cancelled after 3 episodes. Also, the Tomelty family home was repossessed at the request of disappointed viewers.

The Tomeltys moved to Japan, since Tony was a huge fan of the anime character Android #18 from Dragon Ball Z. It was there that he began his racing career and earned both a British and Japanese license.

Every year on September 1, his birthday, Tony must recieve at least one present with Android #18 on it or his birthday is ruined.

In November 1999, Tony appeared as an extra on an episode of the children's TV series "Tweenies" which was filmed in Japan.
